6.2. Hot areas (Information Technology)

A great way to improve your chances of finding a job is having or developing skills in an area where local resources are scarce. One such example right now is Information Technology. The growth in the technology field has not been matched by the graduation of Computer-savvy professionals, and that is particularly true for people with technology understanding and business understanding, like most MBAs. See appendix A for more about Information Technology.

Other areas where demand surpasses supply (within Business) are: Operations Research, Logistics (e.g. Supply Chain Management) and Professional Accounting. You can find more detail in a Michigan State University study at http://www.msu.edu/csp/publicat/supdem.htm.
