3.4. Background

Both, the school you attended and the companies you have worked for, are usually far less recognized than their equivalents in the US. Most probably, recruiters have not heard about them.

How to overcome:

Introduce them: When talking about them (resume, interview or conversation), start with a brief sentence introducing them, with specific data (e.g. the most prestigious school in the country or the second largest telecommunications company in the region).

Put them in context: Relate the companies to their accomplishments or relationships with better-known companies (e.g. #1 IBM distributor in the region).
