4.2. You are Global

Most medium or large sized companies deem themselves as global; they are proud of it. And by definition, you are an example of the global workforce. Having worked in another country (and possibly another continent), knowing other markets, and having relocated to the US, are experiences that allow you to better understand the global economy (e.g. you will understand better than anybody else what currency fluctuation means).

How to exploit:

Have stories ready: Tell recruiters about the challenges you have faced and successfully dealt with in your career (e.g. dealing with people under harsh union contracts, coping with devaluation or inflation, international trade projects). School stories are also important – how you get along with Americans and people from all over the world, or your participation in intercultural events.
